Joseph Michael "Joey" Smith, age 57, of Franklin, passed away in his sleep March 1, 2021. He was born in Nashville on September 28, 1963, and was raised in Gallatin, TN. He was a graduate of Gallatin High School and attended UT Martin. Joey married Alison Morrow in 1991 and they had a son, Bradford, in 2003. They started and published the local golf paper, Golfer's Tee Times, for ten years before selling to new owners. Joey maintained a lifelong love of the game of golf and served tirelessly on the Board of the TN Golf Association and as a national committee member of the U.S. Golf Association. At the time of his death, he was the Business Development Coordinator for Capital Route Sales.
A devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many, Joey most loved watching his son play golf, and cooking for large or small events from catering big dinners to making pots of gumbo or chili for neighbors and friends. No time was too early or too late for him to counsel a friend, and no conversation too small to have. A dedicated member of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, he counted his fellow Men's Ministry and BHCC Security members among his closest friends. He was truly someone with 100 best friends and never once met a stranger.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Alison Morrow Smith; son, Bradford Morrow Smith; parents, Michael and Carole Smith of Hendersonville; sisters, Jennifer Smith Creech (Alan) of Chicago, IL, Amy Smith Wilson of Hendersonville, TN; nieces, Jessica Creech, Jessi Wilson, Lizzi Wilson; nephews, Brandon Creech (Ty), Timothy Wilson (Randi), and Nick Creech; father- and mother-in-law, J.
