Joyce Taylor Bell, devoted wife, adored aunt, and beloved friend, passed away suddenly Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the age of 86. Her family and friends called her Joy - a name she lived to the fullest. She was a "Category 5" positive force in this world. Her recipe for life was serving Christ, loving her community, and sharing her food.

Born in the Beasleys Bend area of Smith County, Tennessee on October 25, 1932, Joyce spent her early life in the Bend. She moved to Nashville in 1952 and worked as a telephone operator for BellSouth. In 1987, she retired from AT&T as a manager. During her retirement, her focus was supporting friends and family, and comforting others by sending personal notes and making meals for the sick and elderly.

In 1986, she married the love of her life, James Bell. She and her husband, Jim, are charter members of Covenant Baptist Church (1989). Serving as church librarian for 25 years, Joyce curated the library for all to enjoy. She was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and regularly volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, James Bell; sisters-in-law Jane Bell and Carolyn Taylor; nephew, Michael Allen, and nieces, Pattye Taylor-Phillips (Matt Phillips Sr.), Betsy Taylor Welch (Jack Welch Jr.), Julie Taylor, and Laura Clark; and, great-nephews Clay Welch (Mary Campbell Welch), Taylor Welch (Meghan Hart Welch), Nathan Welch, Brendan Phillips, Matt Phillips Jr. (Melanie Phillips), Tony Phillips (Colleen Phillips), and great-nieces Olivia Bates, Emily France, and Sara France.

She was preceded in death by parents, Julius and Lula Taylor, sister, Marguerite Allen, and brother, Ray Allen Taylor.

"Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." -Rev. 2:10 (KJV).

Visitation is Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 2-5pm at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Hwy 100.

Memorial service will be Monday, November 26, 2018 at 9am. Interment to follow.
