Joyce Pauline Shivley Wilharm, age 85 of Nashville, passed away Saturday, January 28 at ALIVE Hospice in Nashville.
The Nashville native was the daughter of the late Wilbert Shivley and Lillie King Woods.
In her early years, Joyce loved to dance. When not on the dance floor, she could be seen performing as one of the first professional female wrestlers.
Throughout life she was heavily involved in politics, focusing on the agenda of the Democratic party. She served as the first female Warrant Processor in Davidson County. Following that she worked in the Circuit Court as a clerk for the General Session Judges. Her career continued as a supervisor in the Criminal Warrant Division. Following retirement from Metro government she worked in the office of Trustee, Charlie Cardwell, whom she adored as a friend and employer.
Mrs. Wilharm is survived by three children: William Ray (Lori) Tomlin, Jr, Joe S. (Meridy) Hunt, Jr and Nita (Sam) Bell; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, January 31 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Wednesday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
