JT (Robert Lee) Tanksley, 64, of Nashville, TN, passed at St. Thomas West Hospital on January 7, 2022 due to complications after suffering a fall in November. JT, was born on April 14, 1957, to Ben A Jr. and Helen (Eaves) Tanksley. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ben E Tanksley, and sister Linda Humphrey.
JT was born and raised in Nashville, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1975. At 17 years-old, he began working at Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. where he was employed for 37 years, and trained to become a senior mechanical designer. In April of 1987, he married his loving wife of over 34 years, Gerry. The couple settled in Bellevue where they raised two daughters, Michaela and Casie. He held various salesmen and designer positions until his death.
JT was an outdoorsman, relentless joke teller, and loving family man. He is incredibly missed by his family, friends, and all those who experienced his constant sense of humor and boisterous laugh. He is survived by his wife, Gerry (Mahanke) Tanksley; daughters, Michaela Coston (J.T. Coston), Casie Tanksley (Matthew Griffin); sister, Donna Tanksley; in-laws, Helen J Brown, Joyce and Tom Jordan, and Hank Mahanke.
No service will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in JT's honor to the Tennessee Wildlife Federation. (tnwf.org)
