Judith Anne Loftis Risner—December 28, 1946 - March 17, 2024, 77, of West Nashville and Pegram, homemaker and childcare provider, passed away at Tristar Skyline Medical Center on Sunday, March 17. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Harpeth Hills Funeral Home chapel, Nashville, TN with interment to follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at the funeral home. She is survived by her two sons, David Clay Risner (Renea) of Kingston Springs, TN and Daniel Robin Risner of Ashland City, TN; two grandchildren, David Clay Risner, Jr. and Kelsay Lee Risner, and one step grandchild, Cody Blake Risner.
She is the daughter of the late Theodore Perry Loftis and Mary Cornelia Vaughan Loftis, and sister of the late Cynthia Loftis South. She is survived by two sisters, Nella Loftis McCall and Nancy Loftis Kellner, and one brother, Donald Lamar Loftis. Active pallbearers will be David Clay Risner, David Clay Risner, Jr., Daniel Robin Risner, Cody Blake Risner, Claiborne Risner, and David P. Risner, II.
She attended Kingston Springs Elementary, Peabody Demonstration School, and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1964. In addition to being a wife and a mother, she worked at Vanderbilt Hospital, on Music Row, and in retail sales. Over the years she loved watching her sons and grandchildren play sports and attending their school activities. She found her passion as both a first teacher and a second mom to many children whom she treated as her own while working as a childcare giver for over twenty years.
She was quick to offer an opinion on any matter. You heard what she thought and not what you wanted to hear. She loved history and researching the genealogy of the Loftis family. She loved riding her beloved horse “Tony” as a teenager and later in life enjoyed taking care of her many plants and flowers, antiquing, reading, working puzzle challenges, and doing arts and crafts.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Ark of South Cheatham or the River Edge Farm Horse Rescue in Lyles, TN.
