Justine Fortugno

Justine Fortugno was born on September 10, 1962, in Milton, Florida, and passed away on January 19, 2022, in West Des Moines, Iowa. Justine was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her, leaving a legacy of love, positivity, and vibrant energy. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Arvin, and her grandparents, Ruth and Vernon Sanderson. 

Justine is survived by her daughters, Keri (Adam) Daugherty and Lindsay (Sebastien) Fontanelle, her grandchildren, Hudson Daugherty and Matiss Fontanelle, and her siblings, Rick Arvin, Kenneth Arvin, and Cindy Lovoy. 

Throughout her life, Justine's passion for health and fitness shone brightly. From her early days as a gymnastics coach and step aerobics instructor to eventually becoming a certified personal trainer, she dedicated herself to helping others on their fitness journey. Her commitment to wellness extended beyond herself, embodying a lifestyle centered around vitality and strength. 

Beyond her professional endeavors, Justine found joy in the company of her beloved dogs, Kuku, Taz, Millie, and Pickles. Whether she was out for a run or leisurely walking with her dogs, Justine enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. 

Those who knew Justine understood that her true beauty stemmed from within. Described as the friendliest and most positive person one could meet, her infectious smile had the power to brighten any room. A neighbor fondly recalled how Justine brought sparkle to their neighborhood, embodying a spirit of warmth and inclusivity. Always dressed in bright colors, she reflected her vibrant personality in all aspects of her life. 

Justine's proudest accomplishments included competing in Figure and Fitness competitions, culminating in the prestigious achievement of obtaining her IFBB Pro Card in Figure Competitions. Her dedication, discipline, and unwavering spirit served as inspiration to many in the fitness community. 

As we bid farewell to Justine Fortugno, we carry with us the memories of her kindness, generosity, and unwavering positivity. May her bright light continue to inspire us to live life fully and embrace each day with a smile, just as she did. Rest in peace, Justine, your legacy of love and light will forever remain in our hearts.
