Katherine Elizabeth Rowland Simpson, born in Benton, Arkansas, June 3, 1920, and passed away February 21, 2016 at 95 years of age.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Emily Dealva Flair, father Thomas Harvell Rowland, husband Edwin Oscar Simpson, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survived by sister, Bobbie Jo Wright, Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, George Lynn Rowland, Spokane, Washington; sons, Charles Edwin (Carolyn) Simpson, & Kenneth Lynn (Janice) Simpson; grandchildren, Scott Simpson, Troy (Lynne) Anderson, Mark (Francesca) Anderson, Gary (Carrie) Hargis, Scott (Amy) Hargis; 14 great-grandchildren & 2 great-great grandchildren.
Katherine was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of WAVES National. She was an Honor graduate of the University of Central Arkansas and received a Master of Arts Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers. She retired as a teacher from Harpeth Valley Elementary; past President of Family and Community Education Club of Fairview, and member of Westview United Methodist Church of Fairview.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home where a celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Scott Simpson, Troy Anderson, Mark Anderson, Gary Hargis, Jr. & Scott Hargis.
