Kelley Sallee Snead, age 58 of Thompson Station, TN, was born in Odessa, TX on October 21, 1958, the daughter of DeWayne "Buddy" Noblett and Phyllis Jeanne "Vikki" Sallee. Raised in Sallisaw, Oklahoma by her grandparents John and Evelyn Sallee, she graduated high school and attended court reporting school. In the early ‘80's she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as an assistant in music business law, later gravitating to Nashville to form a singing duo with her mother and to write songs. She held many positions on Music Row during that time, working in various music law firms and eventually spending ten years at the Country Music Foundation and Hall of Fame as assistant to deputy director Kyle Young. At the Hall of Fame, she met songwriter Doak Snead, and they married in 1992. Their daughter Emma Claire was born in 1995.
After 3 years at BMG music, Kelley began a new career in real estate at Crye Leike realtors where she continued pursuing music on the side. Her real estate career ended in 2012 due to her contracting Corticobasal Degeneration, a super Parkinson's disease, becoming severely handicapped. In 2015 under her stage name Kelley Sallee Snead, she supervised a production of a CD of some of her early recordings called "Roses & Tumbleweeds" which is available on the internet.
Kelley is survived by her husband, Doak, her daughter, Emma Claire, of Spring Hill, TN, a stepdaughter, Rachel McCarty of Austin, TX; her sister, Kristi Ritson and her husband James of Peach Tree City, GA; her aunt, Bobbie Sallee Rivarde of Sallisaw, OK, three cousins and their families; and many nieces and nephews.
