Kenneth Wayne Johnston, affectionately known as Wayne, of Ashland City, Tennessee passed away on February 27, 2025. He was born on June 14, 1946, to the late William Johnston and Karleen Greer Johnston in Nashville, Tennessee.

Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, Wayne went home to take care of his growing family. He also worked as a horse trainer and horse judge. He may have had many titles, but Papaw was one of his favorites, spending a lot of his time with his eight grandchildren. He also loved to go fishing and hunting for deer or Turkey. He was a member of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents listed above, brother, William “Johnny” Johnston Jr., and nephew William “Trey” Johnston III.

Wayne is survived by his loving daughters, Kristen Smith (Darion), and Katelyn Willis. He is also survived by his brother Howard Dale Johnston (Barbara), sister-in-law June Johnston, and grandchildren Jaylen, Chyran, Aubrey, Noah, D.J., Rylee, Baylie, and Ashten, and one great-granddaughter Myla.

A gathering to honor Wayne’ s life will be held at the pavilion of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home in Nashville, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 1:00 until 4:00pm. Located at 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, Tennessee 37221.
