Laran Ray Philpott
May 3, 1957 - November 9, 2018
Friday, November 9, 2018 Laran left us for his new adventure in Heaven, where we know he was greeted with open arms. We can only imagine how he would describe to us what he is experiencing.
Laran leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 26 years, Karen Ruth Philpott, his loving daughter Lauren Dell Hoffman, her husband Joe Hoffman and cherished granddaughter, Della Ruth Hoffman, all from Nashville, his sisters Genna Philpott and Paula Durrett and husband Craig Durrett all from Texas.
Laran was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Blye Elizabeth Webb Philpott and Emmett Wayne Philpott. He grew up in Waco, Texas, and often spoke of the wonderful memories of his life-long friends and memories at Tennyson and Richfield High School.
Leaving Waco, Laran soon joined the United States Air Force, and was so proud to serve 4 years as a C-130 crew chief that took him to Yokota Air Base in Japan.
After the Air Force, Laran returned to Waco and attended his beloved Baylor University with his cousin/brother Barrett Evans.
Laran enjoyed a long career in the Christian Music Business and eventually started his own company, Exceptional Sound, a Commercial Audio Video and Lighting Installation Company.
A true enthusiast... Laran's real passion was Italian Motorcycles and Motocross. He began his love for motorcycles in the hills & trails of Waco. Even as a teenager, he was known as the "Wheelie King of Waco". He founded an Italian Motorcycle Club, Moto Italia. One of his good friends said this, "Laran's enthusiasm for Italian motorcycles and the brotherhood he created in Moto Italia lives on in the hearts of his friends who carry on in his club. Laran led the way to MotoGP at Indy, dirt bikes in Baja, Trans American Trail, and club gatherings at Corse Motorsports and Jackson's. '08 Track Day at Barber Motorsports Park was a highlight of his life.
Laran Philpott meant so much to so many. A loving husband, devoted father, over the top grandfather, a faithful brother, a friend to many, and loyal to all. If you were blessed to know him you experienced first-hand a true enthusiast for life. Everything in Laran's world was "Incredible"! As one of his good friends said of Laran, "The level of influence you have on another person is directly related to how good they feel about themselves when they are in your company."- John Maxwell
Godspeed Laran!
