Larry Morris Mitchell, MD of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center; he was 84 years old.

Dr. Mitchell was a very accomplished man; an avid outdoorsman, golfer, skilled Finger Picker Guitar Player, and Animal lover (especially horses, dogs, ducks, and turkeys). He had two dogs that won the Grand National Field Trial Championships in 1978 and 2005. His family describes him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a devout Christian.

Preceded in death by his son Hunter Mitchell, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cathey Mitchell; son Jay Mitchell (Katie); daughter, Reed Mitchell; son, Morris Mitchell; son, Gray Mitchell (Kelsey); grandchildren, Taylor, Ali, Julia, Emma, Eleanor, Marian, and Charlotte; and brother, John Mac Mitchell.

A Celebration of Life will be held this weekend in Franklin.
