Laureda M. "Mamaw" Carter, age 86 of Brentwood, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at her residence following a battle with leukemia.
Born December 8, 1930 in Marshall County, AL, she was the daughter of Arlice and Mary Maze. She married Paul D Carter on May 5, 1951.
She was a graduate of Arab High School in 1949 and spent her life as a homemaker and raising three children. Mamaw was a master seamstress, baker and gardener, but her family was the true love of her life. She will be missed very much.
Survivors include daughter: Reda Gene (Dale) Brooks of Priceville, AL; sons: Ed (Sandy) Carter and Larry (Marie) Carter of Nashville; grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Rodgers of Nashville, Tim Brooks of Priceville, AL, Kristin (J.P.) Flatt of Nashville, Jeff (Tandy) Brooks of Priceville, AL and Heather (Mike) Arbuckle of Nashville; step-grandchildren: Ryan (Alaina) Williams of Atlanta, Lauren Williams of Charlottsville, VA and Michael David Rodgers of Nashville; great-grandchildren: Alex Brooks of Priceville, AL, Natalie Rodgers, Bryson Arcuckle, Kyllie Arbuckle, Scarlett Flatt and Presley Rodgers, all of Nashville, and Gideon Brooks of Priceville, AL.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday, July 16 from 4-7 PM at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, July 19 at 3:30 PM at Arab Memorial Cemetery in Arab, AL. The family will receive friends from 1-3:30 Wednesday at Gober Funeral Chapel in Arab, AL.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to ALIVE Hospice or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
