Leon Powell Dodd Sr., 89, of Nashville, TN, passed away on November 10, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 9, 1934, in Jacksonville, FL. Leon was a devoted and loving father, survived by his wife Carol Ross Dodd and his children: Ann D. Dodd, Leon P. (Ellen) Dodd, Michael T. (Vicki) Dodd, John G. (Kay) Dodd, Kathy D. (Tony) Van Grinsven, Denise D. Lewis, Diane M. (Stephen) Lewis, Dana Perryman, Chris (Dana) Ross, Corey (Toni) Ross, Charity (Larry) Potts, lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leon is also survived by his siblings, Frank Dodd Jr., Joe White, and Jim White. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Whitehead Dodd, daughter Mary Dodd Vialuch, granddaughter Jessica Vialuch Humphrey, and Chuck Ross, Jr.
Leon attended Father Ryan High School and later served in the US Navy Reserves. As a proud veteran, he exemplified courage and dedication to his country.
Leon was a self-employed professional, known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He found fulfillment in his career and made a lasting impact on those around him.
Outside of his professional life, Leon had a passion for various hobbies. He was a skilled black belt, an avid hunter, scuba diver, and history buff. His thirst for knowledge and adventure was evident in his pursuit of these interests.
Leon's commitment to his faith led him to worship at Holy Family Catholic Church. His spiritual connection brought him comfort and strength throughout his life.
Leon will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire.
Family will receive visitation on Friday, November 17th from 3:00-6:00 pm, at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will have a service on Saturday, November 18th, 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood. A family burial at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville will be held at a later date.
