Lillian Ortiz Jones died peacefully in Nashville, TN on August 16, 2016 at the age of seventy-six. Lillian is survived by her husband, Dr. Nicholas I. Jones of Nashville, her children, David S. Jones of Tampa, FL and Bruce H. Jones of Nashville; her sister, Doris Armento of Dunedin, FL; four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Brian D. Jones.

Lillian was born on January 13, 1940 in New York, New York to Michael N. Ortiz and Rose M. Ocasio/Ortiz. She graduated from CUNY in 1961. She married Dr. Nicholas I. Jones in 1963 and moved to Charleston, SC, where her husband opened his dental practice.

Lillian and her husband raised three sons and did everything they could to provide a loving home, encouraging their children to aim high and always go after their dreams. She studied painting in oils, and collected antiques while she learned everything she could about antiques.

After working for two design firms, she opened Lillian O. Jones Interiors, and was accepted into the American Society of Interior Designers. She opened her 1819 home for tours for the benefit of the Preservation Society and the Charleston Historic Foundation. Lillian was a member of the Garden Club of Charleston, the Charleston Symphony League, and participated in designing many rooms for the benefit of the symphony show houses. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a member of their flower guild.

After moving to Knoxville, Lillian became a member of the Knoxville Symphony League, Ossoli Circle, Cherokee Garden Club, and the Flower Guild of the Church of the Ascension. Lillian had a passion for flower arrangements and was known for her creative designs. She also did all of the arrangements for the Knoxville Symphony League Ball for several years, and was in charge of flower arrangements for Ossoli Circle. She loved to entertain and opened her home many times for Elegant Dining affairs for the benefit of the symphony.

Lillian and her husband moved to Nashville in 2015 to enjoy spending time with their son, daughter-in-law, and grandson.
