Linda Sue Young was born on May 13, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Jewel Hardcastle Young and Stanley Young. She moved to Tennessee at 8 years old to be raised by her maternal grandmother, Mattie Hardcastle.
Linda graduated from West High School in 1959. She married her first husband in 1960 and had 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She spent the last 30 years with her lifelong partner, Bill Lane.
Linda was an avid gambler. She enjoyed going to the riverboat, growing a big summer garden, canning the vegetables, being outside, and spending time with her family. Linda was a huge fan of Elvis and loved listening to his songs.
Linda worked for Ma Bell, later known as BellSouth Corporation, and eventually AT&T, and retired from working there after over 25 years of employment.
Linda is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Connie Sue Mangrum; brother, Ross Young; and sister, Janice Fisher.
Linda is survived by her partner, Bill Lane; sons, James Mangrum Jr (Felma), Kevin Mangrum Sr., and adopted son, Kevin Michael Mangrum Jr.; grandchildren, Michael Mangrum, Nick (Taylor) Mangrum, Jessica (Jake) Smith, Ashley Mangrum, James Mangrum III, Tristan Mangrum, and Elisha Mangrum; 3 great-grandchildren, Emmalee Smith, Henry Smith, and Hayden Mangrum.
