Nashville - Lisle Castleman Hooper died peacefully on April 7, 2020 with her family by her side. She was 79 years old. Born on February 2, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of David Pryor Castleman and Sophia Hanna Castleman.
Lisle attended high school at Collegiate School in Louisville, KY. She went on to Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. It was there, on a blind date, she met the love of her life, Jack Hooper. Married August 5, 1961, they were blessed with 58 wonderful years of marriage until Jack's death in September 2019. Their marriage now continues eternally in heaven.
Lisle was treasurer of the Iroquois Steeplechase supporting Friends of Children's Hospitals, a long-standing member of the Junior League of Nashville and Belle Meade Country Club. She especially loved her ladies luncheon group, First Wednesday.
The family would like to thank Linda Cloyd for her devotion and caring spirit. Her bright smile and upbeat attitude were always appreciated. And finally, we want to thank Gracie, Mom's kitty cat, who kept her company this past year.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Hooper Scarbro (Jeff), her son, John Marion Hooper III (Leslie), and her grandchildren who referred to her affectionately as Goodie: David Castleman Mills, Katherine Lisle Hooper, John Marion Hooper, IV, William Trexler Hooper, Luca Grace Hooper, and Stephanie Lynne Scarbro.
Contributions may be made in her memory at the Nashville Humane Association or the Martha O'Bryan Center.
A private memorial service is tentatively scheduled for August 5, 2020, which would have been our parents 59th wedding anniversary.
