Louis John Resha, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on July 29, 2024, in Gallatin, TN.
Louis was predeceased by his parents Louis and Ann Resha, brother Raymond Resha, and uncle Mitchell (Theresa) Resha.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gwenn Resha; children Lisa (Rick) Ladd, Michal (Mitch) Lynch, Bernadette Resha, Renee (John) Widener, Lou (Judy) Resha; grandchildren Morgan Lynch, Ryker Henth, Colby Lynch, Shafer Henth, Evan Ladd, James (Shelby) Widener, Jeremy Widener, Zach Resha, Grace (Andrew) Habib; great grandson Malachi Habib; as well as numerous friends and loved ones.
Louis was born on November 26, 1936, in Birmingham, AL. He proudly served in the Army and later went on to become a successful owner of four grocery stores, Bi-Rite Food Town.
Aside from his professional success, Louis had a deep passion for hunting and fishing. His achievements were nothing short of extraordinary as he held multiple world hunting records, including the prestigious number one spot for taking a Black Wildebeest with a rifle measuring 101 2/8 inches. Additionally, he boasted 12 other world record hunting awards for Gold, Silver, and Bronze. His adventurous spirit also led him to Africa three times for unforgettable hunting experiences. Even after retirement, Louis continued to seek adventure; he cherished traveling as a way to explore new horizons and create lasting memories.
In his free time, Louis enjoyed showcasing his culinary skills as a great cook and tending to his vegetable garden. His talent for smoking meat on the smoker brought joy to many gatherings with family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandsons. Louis took immense pride in teaching them how to hunt and fish while actively participating in their school and sport activities—a legacy that will continue through generations.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 12:30pm ~ 1:30pm with a Celebration of Life at 1:30pm and the burial to immediately follow all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
Louis Resha's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing he was truly loved and admired by many.
