Margaret Creasy- Age 85, of Nashville, passed away Oct 1, 2020.
Margaret Creasy grew up in the Parsons community of West Tennessee. Her favorite childhood memories were times spent with her granny and pappy, Zona and Alf Lane-cooking family meals with her granny and riding bikes around their little house.
As a young girl Margaret had close neighborhood friends-Evelyn King, Margaret Hill, and Ima Bowman. Evelyn King was her best friend. They played paper dolls together through the week and waited impatiently to cut out the latest Eve Arden paper dresses from the Sunday edition of the newspaper. As they grew older, they double dated with their future husbands, and took family vacations together after their children were born. It isn't unusual to have childhood friends, but Margaret maintained these four friendships throughout her lifetime by calling, writing cards, or visiting when they were in town together. One of those dear friends, Ima Bowman, is still living. She and Margaret called each other every evening until Margaret's hospitalization just a few days ago.
When Margaret was twelve years old her mother found a piano teacher for her. As it turned out, Margaret was gifted as a pianist. For twenty years she was the church pianist at the Old Hickory church. In later years Margaret played and sang with her friends at the Senior Center in Parsons.
Margaret was an excellent Southern cook. Her husband Ovid says, "In her day she could have four burners going and the oven at the same time. She was known for her delicious carrot cake and chicken and dressing. Family and friends described her carrot cake, "As the best carrot cake ever put in your mouth."
In her senior years Margaret loved to ride the country roads in Perry County and on the Natchez Trace Parkway to see the wildlife, especially deer, and visit the old homes of her childhood.
And just a few months ago, at 85 years old, she learned to use Facebook. She loved to follow the posts of her family and friends and often went to sleep in her chair reading their posts.
Preceded in death by her parents Callie Belle Graves Lane and James Clifford Lane. Survived by her loving husband of 68 ½ years Ovid Lee Creasy; children Rick Creasy (Kathy) and Pam Creasy Rawls; grandchildren Lee Creasy (Sarah) and Clint Creasy (Charis); great-grandchildren Elodie Creasy, Amelia Creasy and Callum Creasy; several cousins and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Staff of Centennial Medical Center and Dr. David Huesinkveld for the love and care shown to Margaret.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the church of your choice.
