Marie Kelly Piland, age 88 of Dickson, passed away July 31, 2017 at her home.
A native of Dickson, she was the daughter of the late Robert Kelly and Ethel Luther Kelly, and the widow of Fred Piland.
Marie will be remembered as a woman of strength. She had a strong Christian faith and dedicated her life to service at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dickson. She was fiercely independent and had a passionate love of her children and grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed the simplicity of sitting on her porch watching the birds and butterflies and listening to the breeze blow through the trees. Her joy came in simply enjoying the creation of her God, and being with her family.
She is survived by three children: James Riddle of Bellevue, Tim Riddle of New Hope, PA and Deborah Humes of Knoxville; 7 grandchildren: Avery Riddle, Hannah Riddle, Ashley Peziol, Timothy Riddle, Rebecca Thompson, Mark Humes and Taylor Humes; a brother: James Kelly of Hixson, TN; and two great-grandchildren: Sydney Peziol and Shay Peziol.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. There will be no prior visitation.
