Mark Anthony Sullivan Sr.
June 25, 1958 | May 22,2020
Mark Anthony Sullivan Sr., 61, went to his forever home in heaven on May 22, 2020. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and 2 brothers Ronnie and Susan Sullivan, and Kelvin and Phyllis Sullivan. He is also survived by his 3 sons Mark II and Kristen Sullivan, John and Brittany Sullivan, and Micah Sullivan; and 3 granddaughters Ruthie, Maddie, and Carley Jean Sullivan who will all miss him dearly.
Mark will be remembered as a fixture in the Fairview community where he lived and worked his entire life. No matter how or when you knew him, you know Mark as a man of God who shared His love by the kindness, care, and dedication he showed. Everyone from customers to waitresses became instant family in his presence.
Mark worked for three decades building quality custom homes in the Middle Tennessee area with Mark Sullivan Builders, previously Ewin Sullivan Builders. Driving around town you'll see many of his signature country style houses with dormers and front porches. His network of customers, subcontractors, and coworkers all became family with Mark. His passion for UT football and the Fairview Yellow Jackets were infamous, and his opinions on these matters could be heard from a mile away.
Family was everything for Mark. He and Barbara have been married for 41 years and are shining examples of marriage and parenting. They raised three boys in Fairview and were in integrally involved at every step. Many will remember Mark as coach, mentor, and Bible school teacher in the years his boys were growing up. He was able to coach and mentor simultaneously all while sharing the love of Jesus through his kindness.
Mark and Barbara met in Daytona Beach, Florida at church on vacation and have since returned there for 39 years with their kids and grandkids. After 15 years of vacationing at Caribbean Condominiums, they have a well-established "Daytona Beach Family" that gathers in July each year. This is his happy place.
Mark's other happy place is in Honduras where he has joined his Berry's Chapel brothers for 8 years building homes, churches, and schools for the beloved church and communities of Potrerillos and Siguatepeque.
Family was everything for Mark. Whether he loved you, teased you, argued with you, encouraged you, or guided you- Mark made you family. Whether you started that way or not, by the end of your time together you felt like family. That's how we will all remember Mark- a godly family man through-and-through.
