Martha Evangeline "Van" Bruno died peacefully on December 25, 2018 at the age of 95.
Van was born in Flint, Alabama on April 9, 1923. She was predeceased by her parents, Reese and Ethel Tapscott; brothers, Reese, Jr. and James Tapscott; and grandson, James Bradley Bruno. She is survived by son John Aaron (Vena) Bruno; grandsons, Brian Bruno and Matthew (Jessica) Bruno; two great grandchildren, Caitlyn Bruno and Callie Bruno.
Van attended Cohn High School in Nashville, Tennessee where she played high school basketball. She was also an avid bowler and won numerous tournaments. Van was a nurse and worked for Dr. Sydney Ballard for over 30 years until she retired. She and two of her best friends poured, fired and painted ceramics for over 40 years. She loved sports of all kinds but her favorite was her beloved Predators. To celebrate her 95th birthday this year, she was surprised by two of the Predators (Pekka Rinne and Scott Hartnell) which she described as "one of the highlights of her life".
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, December 29th at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with graveside services immediately following at 1 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN, 37221 615-646-9292, harpethhills.com
