Mrs. Stasaski was born December 16, 1923, in Lincoln County, TN where she grew up the eldest child in a farming family. During World War II, she worked making parachutes in Fayetteville, TN. She moved to Nashville to earn her RN at St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing through the Cadet Nurse Corps and practiced at the hospital until she started a family in 1951. She maintained a close relationship with St. Thomas hospital throughout her life and was even volunteering at 96 years old on a weekly basis.
Martha lived independently and lived life to the fullest. She was a role model for her friends and family, and her approach to living was even captured in a promotional video and TV interview where she proclaims" I want to do it myself for as long as I can".
