Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Brown Burnett- passed peacefully from this earth to her heavenly home on Thursday morning in Centerville, TN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Richard Brown and Lena Lucille Johnson Brown; sister, Helen Carolyn Brown Hawkins; brother, William L. Brown.

Survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 60 years, Larry Burnett; children, Mary Beth Blevins (Rody); Madison Burnett (Dawn), Rebecca Lee (Stan); beloved grandchildren, Rachael Blevins Manhard (Chris), Cameron Lee, Roderick Blevins, Caitlin Lee, Abby Blevins and Hillary Burnett; brothers-in-law, Billy Hawkins, Ranse Burnett (Gloria Schmeichel); also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Libby was born at home on the family farm on Nolensville Road on January 4, 1938. She loved life growing up on the farm and began her lifelong love for animals there. She graduated from Antioch High School in 1956 and married her high school sweetheart, Larry, in September of that year. Libby greatly enjoyed learning and began her pursuit of a college degree while keeping house and raising three active children. She reached her goal on December 21, 1990, graduating from the University of North Alabama with a bachelor's degree in sociology. She began her career counseling prisoners for the Tennessee Department of Corrections shortly thereafter and worked for the DOC until her retirement. Libby was a member of Maple Valley Baptist Church and served as part-time church pianist until the time of her death.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017 and 12:30 -1:30 p.m. on Monday at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100 Nashville. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, the family requests that donations be made in Libby's name to Maple Valley Baptist Church, 3772 Piney Road, Nunnelly, TN 37137.
