Walker, Mary Jean (Croft), age 96, of Nashville, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020. She was born in South Haven, MI on December 15, 1923. Her family moved to NC and then to Tennessee in 1940. She graduated from Hillsboro High and George Peabody College for Teachers. She earned her Master's from University on Northern Colorado. Retired from Metro Nashville Schools with 34 years of service. Mary Jean lived independently until recently. She enjoyed going to the Green Hills YMCA, swimming class, playing bingo, and senior luncheons and parties. Watching sports, sewing, cruising with the family and eating at the Cracker Barrel were other favorite activities.
Member of French Lick chapter of DAR for 50+ years. Mary Jean was a wonderful mother and grandmother who adored her family. Preceded in death by husband William Walker, parents Orton and Dorothy Croft, brother Wilfred Croft, and son-in-law Steve Findley. Survived by daughter Jeana Findley, Knoxville; sons, Croft (Dottie) Walker, Knoxville and David (Tammy) Walker, Nashville. Grandchildren: John (Jenelle) Findley, Daniel Findley, Ben (Leanne) Walker, Noah (Alicia) Walker, Courtney Walker, Brittni Walker, Kayla Walker. Great granddaughters: Sienna Findley, Samantha Walker. Services will be graveside only on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 3:00 Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Highway 100. Flowers are appreciated or if desired, donations may be made to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
