Matthew Harrison Woods, 37, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

Matt was born on May 14, 1979, in Nashville, Tennessee.

He is survived by his mother, Mickie Woods; father, Vaughn Woods (Donna); brother, Chris Woods (Emily); nephew, Marek Woods; and grandmother, Martha Matlock. He was preceded in death by grandparents DeVaughn Woods (Dorothy) and Roy Matlock Sr.

Matt was a kind soul, and anyone who met him knew he was a special man. He was an outstanding little brother to Chris. Matt loved to watch sports and was an excellent athlete himself

He was always there to help if you needed a helping hand. He loved his nephew and was a proud uncle, loving son and great brother to Chris.

Matt liked to hit golf balls, and you could see him out behind his mom's home swinging away. He was at peace on the banks of a river with his fishing pole. He was an avid reader of the Bible and loved history, sports and music.

Matt owned Nashville Curb Appeal Lawn Service and was recentlydoing home improvement. He will be missed by his family and friends andall of those who loved him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, where celebration of Matt's life will be conducted on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 11:30 am with an hour visitation prior to service.
