Throughout Mel's life, he has blessed everyone he has come in contact with whether it was during his 55 years in the car business or his 27 years of sobriety. He has been recognized for his accomplishments as the first inductee into the TN Independent Automobile Dealers Association Hall of Fame. In recovery, he served as the President for Cumberland Heights Alumni Association and was a board member of the Middle Tennessee Drug & Alcohol Council.

Mel always put his family first among all things, no matter what the cost. There was no greater a love than what he had for his family.

Among the many amazing things there are about Mel Hendricks, remember these two. One, he could only say, "GO BIG BLUE." Second, for those recovering and suffering alcoholics, please remember Mel's coined phrase, "Get Sober; Get Involved, Stay Involved; Stay Sober."

In lieu of flowers make donations to the Cumberland Heights Alumni Association or the Make A Wish Foundation.
