Meredith Loretto Nestor, age 80, died of cancer on June 17, 2015, in Williamson County, Tennessee.
She was born in New York City, NY on October 5, 1934. She was the eldest of two daughters born to Robert H. & Virginia L. Derck. She is predeceased by her first husband, William E. Nestor and her sister Diana C. Burns.
She was a graduate of Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts in 1954. She worked for many years as a school teacher in Nashville, Tennessee and later in the Admissions Office of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband Wendell Poe, of Bellevue, Tennessee; her daughter, Laurie Diane Childers and her husband Michael of Franklin, Tennessee, her son, Stephen Patrick Nestor and his wife Nicole of Franklin, Tennessee, her daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Marie Ledford of Franklin, Tennessee, and her grandchildren, Mackie Holt and her husband Denton, Damon Varble and his wife Allison, Samuel, Gabriel, Isabel and Josie Nestor, and Spencer and John Ledford.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and has been described by most who knew her as "the sweetest person they have ever met". She was an active parishioner at both St. Henry Catholic Church and the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, Tennessee.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2005 between 5:00pm and 7:00pm at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens and Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at St. Henry Catholic Church followed by interment at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens and Funeral Home. (Garden of Grace)
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
