Michael D. Figlio, Sr.
Peacefully passed in his sleep January 7, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mike was born on September 21, 1931, in Mingo Junction, just outside of Steubenville, Ohio.
Upon graduating from Catholic Central High School, Mike spent one year in the seminary, followed by four
years in the Navy, where he developed a background in electronics and sang in the Navy band.
After discharge from the Navy, he made his way to New York in search of a singing career. It was in New York
that he met Rita Sachar. They were soon married and began their large Italian family.
His electronics background from the Navy helped land him a job in a small studio as a recording engineer, and
soon after he was hired by Columbia Records. In 1967, Columbia Records relocated Mike and his family to
Nashville, TN.
Upon arriving in Nashville, Mike and Rita joined St. Henry Catholic Church, where they were instrumental in
helping to bring the Cursillo Movement to the Diocese of Nashville.
Mike was passionate about his faith and his family. Daily morning mass was his routine that guided his
servant's heart. He spread love through massive hugs, an unforgettable smile, and always made you feel like
you were the only person in the room. His desire to help others before self, can be seen as the definition of
unconditional love in action.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Teresa Figlio, and sister, Marie Palladino. He is survived by
