Michael Stratton Jones, 26, of Nashville, Tennessee died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 10, 2016.
Stratton graduated from Nashville Christian School in 2008, where he played football and basketball. He graduated from the University of Mississippi "Ole Miss" with a B.S. in Business Administration in 2015. He worked at the university in the athletic department, and was a member and legacy of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was excited about starting his career at Franklin Hillhurst Financial in Washington D.C.
Stratton was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Stratton III, and Mr. Jackson Moody.
Stratton is survived by his parents Mike Jones and Shelley Stratton Jones; brother Jackson Parker Jones; sister Grayson Elizabeth Jones; grandmother Claudenia Moody. Uncles; Franc Stratton (Charlotte); Steven Stratton (Penny); Kip Stratton (Bess); Donnie Jones (Gloria) Aunt; Cheryl Simmons (Wayne) and many beloved cousins. Godmother, Kelli McGrath and Godfather, Cliff Myers and his beloved Red Heeler, Red.
Stratton was loved by his many friends and all that knew him. He had a contagious laugh and was a wonderful loving son and protective big brother. He enjoyed duck and turkey hunting as well as golf. He was an avid Vanderbilt and Ole Miss football fan. Stratton's love of children led him to volunteer in his church nursery and at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in his teen years. He was member of Bellevue United Methodist Church for 22 years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, at Bellevue United Methodist Church from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and again Thursday at 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Forrest Hills Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Pallbearers; Caden Anderson, Ned Bartlett, T.J. Banks, Conner Davidson, Parke Wales, Rob Wales, Rhett Grey, Chris Wolfe, Reed Ammons, Trey Hicks and Todd Fox. Honorary pallbearers; NCS Class of 2008 and Gamma Iota Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bellevue United Methodist Church, Nashville Christian School or Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
