Michael Allan “Mike” Blackmer, a beloved member of the Culleoka community, passed away on February 4, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on December 22, 1956, in Nashville, TN, and he lived his life focused on and surrounded by his people. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years Anita Kennedy Blackmer, son Craig Blackmer, daughter Emily (Brent) Weaver, grandchildren Isabelle Blackmer, Brantley Weaver, Baylee Weaver, Brecken Blackmer and Boone Weaver, father Bob Blackmer, and sister Judy Lowe. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Jean Taylor and grandparents, Allan and Mary Taylor and Albert and Ida Blackmer.
Mike lived a remarkable life that touched the hearts and lives of all who knew him. He prioritized his family through all seasons of his life: Anita, Craig, Emily and their families were his world. He was always making memories with his grandkids by going for donuts or candy or planting a garden. They cheered on the Preds and went to a game as a family every Christmas. Years of memories were created on Percy Priest lake, with boating, tubing, and floating. The family prioritized time together during vacations to the beach and recently made memories at Disney. After moving to Culleoka, Mike has been loving the family “farm” life.
Mike had a talent for building beautiful homes. He was a general contractor for many years and he had a gift for envisioning the update to create an attractive home. He was hardworking and was honest and respected in his field. Later in life he built his company Archway Roofing into a successful business. He also enjoyed restoring old cars, and his grandfathers 1964 Studebaker Avanti was his prized project.
Mike had a truly infectious laugh and always left people better than he found them. He was a fun-loving and loyal friend who earned the respect of anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Mike graduated from Bellevue High School, (class of 1974) and was very active in the alumni group, even planning the class reunions and going above and beyond with reunion trips. He dearly loved gathering with his longterm friends. He had a passion for connecting with people from his past, and a real talent for reconnecting these people with each other. He enjoyed breakfast every day with a group of men in Culleoka. His love for his people was unmatched.
After moving from the Franklin to be closer to family in Culleoka, Mike absolutely loved living on the farm. He treasured being next door to his family, where the grandkids could walk over every day. Mike also had such affection for animals, always taking such tender care of dogs or cats and the animals on the farm, especially his young cow, Dolly. Mike loved the water and took the opportunity to gather people together on the water, whether boating on Percy Priest lake, floating in his pool on the farm, or enjoying the surf (and the restaurants) at Orange Beach AL. He will be missed by so many.

A special note from Anita: While Mike is now with Jesus, Anita knows that this will be an incredibly difficult time for Craig and Emily. Please keep her children and grandchildren in your prayers as they will need each of you in the days, months and years ahead.
