Michael Peter Miller, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Michael—Mike, Doc, Dr. Miller—was born on September 24, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, second of George and Loretta Miller’s six children. Mike married his wife Kathleen (Kitty) in 1968. With a medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin, Mike was a practicing physician in the Nashville area since 1980. His initial practice was in allergy and internal medicine. In more recent years, he focused his work on helping those battling addiction, which he had said he believed was his life’s calling. Throughout his career, he always focused on healing the whole person. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed not only traveling to golf with his longtime friends, but he also enjoyed golfing with his grandchildren. Mike and his wife Kitty are members of St. Matthew Catholic Church, though Mike also sang in the St. Henry Church choir. He loved to sing and had a wonderful voice even when singing just from the pew. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, counselor, friend, and physician.
Michael Miller is preceded in death by his parents, George and Loretta Miller, along with his brother, Phillip. He is survived by his wife, Kitty, and children Sara Butler and husband David, Joel Miller and wife Michaeline, Elise Miller, Jessica Plunk and husband Chris, Hannah Powell and husband Ian, Rebecca Miller and husband Matt, and Leah Miller, along with his grandchildren W. Ryan and M. Taylor Snodgrass, Mikayla and McKenna Miller, Madelyn and Kaylee Plunk, Alton and Duncan Powell, and his siblings Charles Miller and wife Patricia, Richard Miller and wife Gloria, Jerrold Miller and wife Margaret, Mary Hepp and husband James.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 11:00 am, at St. Matthew Catholic Church at 535 Sneed Road W., Franklin, TN 37069. There will be a visitation at 9:30 am at St. Matthew before the funeral Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to be made to Catholic Relief Services.
