NACARATO, MICHAEL JOHN-Age 85. Passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born July 27, 1929 to the late Michael and Mary Nacarato in Gary, Indiana. He attended Lew Wallace High School.

He was preceded in death by Betty, his loving wife of 61 years whom he cherished and adored.

Mike was also a devoted and generous father of seven children, Mary (Ed) Daily, Valerie Daley, Mike (Teresa) Nacarato, Jr., Lisa (Bud) Curtis, Joe (Beth) Nacarato, Ruthie (Bill) Green and Tom Nacarato; fourteen grandchildren, Eddie Daily, Patrick (Allison) Daily, Julie Daily, Jacqueline (Chuck) Head, Mike Nacarato IV, Carly Nacarato, Matthew (Betty) Brinton, Laura (Geoff) Oliveria, Joey Nacarato, Tina (Dave) Eisner, Johnny Nacarato, Michelle Nacarato, Daniel Green and Nicholas Green; eight great grandchildren, Avery, Zachary, Joshua, Betty Jean, and Lizzie Beth Head, Luke Eisner, JR Nacarato III, and Marion Daily.
Also survived by sisters, Rosemary (Lou) Genduso and Tina Costas, and brother, Robert (Cheryl) Nacarato; brother-in-law, Charles Ray; and sisters-in law, Dorothy Mitchell, Virginia (Ray) Hrezo, Helen Willing and Mary Ray; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike was a founding member of St. Stephen Church in Merrillville, Indiana and of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Franklin, Tennessee.

He was also a member of Corpus Christi Church in St. Augustine, Florida. Mike started his career in the truck business in Gary, Indiana as a bookkeeper at Truck Service and later became the office manager. In 1960, he became a partner at Summerfield GMC Truck Company.
He moved his family to Nashville in 1976 and founded Nacarato GMC, currently Nacarato Volvo Trucks, now operated by his sons Mike and Joe. The dealership has earned numerous awards including Volvo's truck dealer of the year. After his retirement he remained as a consultant for the company. Mike was voracious reader and an avid golfer.
In his retirement, he often golfed six days a week, many days playing 36 holes and achieving 5 hole-in-one shots.

He was a former member of Temple Hills Country Club and Hammock Dunes Country Club in Palm Coast, Florida, where he was the Club Champion. He loved rooting for Notre Dame Football, the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Blackhawks.

He will be truly missed by all who loved him dearly. Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, with visitation one hour before in the Chapel.

Interment will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
