Born in Algood, Tennessee
Resided in Franklin, Tennessee
Mrs. Jewell Dillon King "Julie", Franklin, TN.
Julie went to Heaven on June 17, 2016. She was born beautiful, to the late Ethel Poston Dillon and Stanton Dillon 94 years ago in Algood, TN.
Julie attended Tennessee Technological University and was an outstanding scholar, a valedictorian of all her classes. She continued such excellence as a wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, friend and church member. Julie often quoted poetry from memory and was rarely without a song.
Julie loved her family, her home, her flowers, playing bridge and golf, or just being with her many friends. She also loved helping ones in need. Julie met Thomas M. King in 1944 in Memphis, where she was working, and while he had a few days at home from service as a combat pilot in WWII. They were married in a few months. Later she helped him get through college after he got out of service. He probably would not have made it without her.
Besides her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara King Rice, and her two brothers, Carson Dillon and Eugene Dillon. She is survived by her loving husband, her two other daughters, Andrea King Wainwright and Janice King (Greg) Bridwell, her granddaughter, Shelby Bridwell and by her two sisters, Jonnie Capps and Anna Ruth Sevier and by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caretakers who helped her over the past years, particularly Lisa Craig who did such a great job.
A private graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery.
