Myra Quinn McGee Marshall completed her life’s journey at the age of 89 on Wednesday, August 16 at her home in Cincinnati, surrounded by her family. The eldest of five children, Myra was the daughter of Edwin Horace McGee and Hazel Lee Martin McGee. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Myra used her talents at the keyboard in a church setting from an early age. While studying music at Tennessee Temple College she met and married Frank Lester Marshall, Sr. Together they served in the music ministries of multiple churches throughout their lives. Myra was an accomplished pianist and organist as well as writer of preschool children’s music. She was employed for many years by the Baptist Sunday School Board, now LifeWay and served as a clinician for children’s choir leaders throughout the Southern Baptist Convention.
Myra is preceded in death by her parents and by sister Ruth Esther McGee Cloud. She is survived by her husband, son Frank Lester Marshall, Jr. and wife Paula, daughter Mydonna Quinn Marshall Herron and husband Carlisle, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also remaining are sister Edwyna McGee Yarbrough and brothers Dr. Dan McGee and Johnny McGee.
Services will be held Saturday, August 26th in the couple’s long-time home of Nashville. Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 12:30pm~ 1:30pm with a Celebration of Life at 1:30pm all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221. There will be a private family burial held later.
