OKEY Burton Johnson, Jr. celebrated his heavenly birthday on Saturday, November 2, 2013. His earthly birthday was October 10, 1925, in Charleston, West Virginia. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, and later graduated from Western Michigan University, where he met his wife, Joyce Leone Brandt. They were married May 21, 1948. He was the founder and owner o Nashville Steel Corporation, and of White Star Steel in Houston, Texas. Okey is pre-deceased by his parents, Okey Burton and Josephine Dickerson Johnson; aunt, Hazel Hook; brother, William Howard Johnson. He is survived by widow, Joyce Brandt Johnson; children, Okey Burton III (Kathleen), Richard Gray (Lisa), Brandt Howard (Cindy), and Joyce Evelyn Johnson; grandchildren, Timothy, Colin, Lauren, Phillip, Morgan, Karen, Jared, Bethany, Matthew, Anna and Margaret; great-grandchildren, Zaeda, Nevaeh, Kaden and Helena. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Richland Place for their kind and excellent care, especially "Vee" and Shanika. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alive Hospice. A life celebration service will be at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
