Ona Temple Rust, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, departed this life on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 91. One was born June 16, 1925 in Nashville, TN to the late Lucille and Red Temple.
Ona accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age, and she was a long time member of Hillview Church of Christ in Nashville. Ona was known for her love of people. She was a caregiver for the majority of her life and loved gardening, flowers and traveling. She worked hard to take care of her family.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, the first of 35 years: Charles V. Countryman, and Wilson Rust; brothers: Harold Temple and Curtis Temple; a sister: Alice Rimlinger; and daughter: Tina Lynn Countryman.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters: Kathy Dawn (Richard) Peak of Ashland, MS and Patricia Charlene Waide of Batesville, MS; grandchildren: Kathy Karol (Clayton) Green of Ripley, MS, Peggy Sue (Sean) Meador of Ashland, MS, Richard Adam (Donna) Peak of Blue Mountain, MS, Rebecca Deann Burk of Sarah, MS, Charles Edward Hughes of Del Ray, FL, and Christina (Dedrick) Sears of Memphis, TN.; and a host of great-grandchildren, and two special friends: Regina Black and Mike Bates.
Ona's family will welcome visitors at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Thursday, March 23 from 11:00 until 1:00 PM for visitation. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
