Patricia Knapp

Patricia Alice Kaufman was born May 22, 1924 to Louise Michel and W. LaMont Kaufman in St. Paul, Minnesota and died June 19, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended St Joseph Academy in St Paul graduating in 1942. In 1944 Patricia enlisted in the US Navy, proudly serving her country for 7 years as a WAVE.  She met her first husband Joe Knapp while in the Navy and they were married in 1949 and had 2 children- John and Liz. Joe Knapp died in 1953, leaving Pat a young widow.  She remarried in January 1961 to Joseph Jarusinsky and had one daughter Carole- Ann. Joseph Jarusinsky died in 1986.
In 1991 Patricia moved to Nashville TN to be near her daughter Carole-Ann. In her retirement she had many interests including: local history, writing, walking, and exploring forgotten cemeteries. She was an active volunteer tour guide at the Carnton Plantation in Franklin TN, as well as Knowles Senior Center where she taught writing classes.  She also served to register voters at the state prison and especially felt honored to register the death row inmates. Her love for life, learning, and her enthusiasm for staying active was admired by all.
Patricia was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and a faithful Catholic for 97 years.  Survived by her children, John Knapp and partner Mindy Barta, Elizabeth  Liscombe and husband David, daughter Carole Ann Mobley, her grandsons Cristopher and Benjamin Liscombe, brother Jim Kaufman and sister Gerri Holmes. Sister Carol Defrese  is deceased. She will be remembered by her family, many cousins, friends, and neighbors and caregivers who enriched her life with love and humor.

Funeral Mass 11am Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6401 Harding Pk. Nashville, Tn 37205.

I n her honor we request brightly colored dress.

Burial with Military Honors at 1pm at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to  Alive Hospice, www.alivehospice.org  in her memory.
