Patricia Eugenia Cook Nicholls, age 88, passed away April 16, 2016.
Pat was born on December 23, 1927 in Vicksburg, MS, to Rupert Mather Cook and Martha Dodson Cook. When she was nine years old, the family moved to Shaw, MS where Pat completed her high school education before attending Sullins College in Bristol, VA. She later transferred to All Saints Episcopal School where on a blind date, she met the love of her life, Richard M. Nicholls. They married in 1948 and had two children, Suzanne Nicholls Cooper (Dr. Seth) and Richard McMain Nicholls, Jr. (Patricia). She is also survived by grandchildren Claire Elise Cooper; Richard Nicholls III (Theresa); Jonathan Cook Nicholls; Laura Nicholls Hamann (Matt); Matthew Ryan Nicholls (Danielle); great grandchildren Emily, Audrey, and Ethan Nicholls and sister-in-laws Nancy Nicholls McKesson and Virginia Nicholls McCollum.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years and her sister, Martha Anne Cook Greer.
Mom was a beloved wife and homemaker, a loving mother and a devoted daughter. She served on the Altar Guilds of Christ Episcopal Church, Vicksburg, MS and St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Murfreesboro, TN as well as being active in the Episcopal Church Women. She was unsurpassed at cooking and at clothing construction, meticulously creating everything from prom dresses to 17th century period clothing for her children's school events and productions.
The family would like to express its appreciation to all the caring staff of Morning Pointe, Alive Hospice, and to Val Degati for her counsel and invaluable assistance.
