Patricia Rice Phipps, age 70 of Nashville, TN passed away peacefully July 3, 2016.

Pat was born in Mobile, AL April 12, 1946.

Growing up she endured two constantly teasing older brothers and two admiring, advice seeking younger sisters. In return, Pat was quietly supportive, loving and devoted to her family.
She graduated from Two Rivers High School in Donelson where she starred as a lefty forward on the basketball team.

She was an avid tennis player, enjoyed jazz music and the beaches of Florida. An accomplished cook, Pat developed a keen taste for fine food, wine and medium roast coffee. Also important to Pat was a stylish wardrobe. She retired after 30 years' service with Metro Nashville Lentz Health Center. Pat was a loving and giving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.

As a single mom, she enjoyed a close relationship with her son, Jim. She especially loved her granddaughters whom she cared for and mentored. All of us will miss her greatly.
Preceded in death by her parents, Margaret J. Waters and Richard H. Rice, Sr.

She is survived by her son, James W. Phipps, granddaughters Cameron Phipps & Sydney Phipps; sisters, Deborah Rice & Stephanie Rice; brothers, Richard Rice, Jr. (Malissa) and Philip Rice (Laurel).

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home where a celebration of Pat's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm.
