Wendell Smith, a loving husband, devoted father, and grandfather, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. He fought the good fight against lung cancer for the past year.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Ridley Dan and Mary Edith Boone Smith, his brother, Dan, and his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Patty) Smith. He was survived by a daughter, Wendy Smith-Wise, and a son, Paul Wendell Smith, Jr., two grandchildren: Jordan Wise-Lormis and Jesse Wise, two brothers: Bob (Sandy) Smith, and Michael (Stacy) Smith, and many nieces, nephews, greats, and in-laws.
Wendell was best known for his jokes and stories. He was the master of many trades from welding to sales and even chopping down trees. He was a ball coach, scout leader, 32nd Mason, history buff, and loved to travel. He loved to run a good party, from taste tests to creations. He was nominated the key holder and the master of security for any party under his supervision.
Celebration of Life for Wendell will be held Saturday, May 4" at Bellevue Masonic Lodge. Visitation will open at 11:00 am. Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm with a Potluck dinner to follow. Bring your best Paw Paw joke or memory.
