Peggy Joyce Mcneil

Peggy Joyce Wilkerson McNeil, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at TriStar Horizon Medical Center after a brief illness.

Peggy was born June 4,1939 in Williamson County, Tennessee. She was part of the first graduating class of Fairview High School and completed courses at the University of Tennessee at Nashville. She married James “Mack” McNeil in 1958, and they were married for over 60 Years until his death in January 2020. A leader and example for women with professional careers, Peggy’s first job was working in finance at Dun and Bradstreet. Her career culminated with her serving as comptroller for Tennessee Attachment Company for 36 years from which she retired at the age of 79. Peggy enjoyed reading, tennis, raising boxer puppies, horses, and was an avid Vanderbilt basketball fan.

She is survived by her children Nicky McNeil (Lisa) and Melissa Brown (Donald); grandchildren Brett Cathey, Ryne McNeil, Natalie Brown, Nathan Brown, Eian Brown; sister and best friend Jo Ann McWilliams; brother-in-law Carl Gilbert; nephews Scott Hall, Jeff Wilkerson, and Robin Russell; nieces Tina Kelly, Holly Semmes, Sherry Spears, Lori Hardin, and Vicky Russell; several close cousins and family members, friend and longtime coworker Thomas Galya and her loyal fur babies BP and Miss Kitty.

Peggy was preceded in death by her father Jesse Frank Wilkerson, mother Goldie Mae Owens Wilkerson, brother Carl Wilkerson, brother Wayne Wilkerson, and brother-in-law Tom Hall.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, November 19,2021 and 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday with internment to follow in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN. 37221
