Rakhshandeh Deljavan Farshi, age 92, passed away April 29, 2017.
She was born in Tabriz, Iran, in 1925. She was orphaned at the age of four and raised by relatives. Her upbringing taught her how to be resourceful and persistent. Against the odds, she received a basic education. When her formal education ended, she persevered and was self-taught, educating herself well enough to work as a librarian for Tehran University. After retirement, she fearlessly traveled the world, visiting each of her six children.
Rakhshandeh was always on the move and wanting to learn. She amazed everyone with her energy and resiliance. At the age of 80, she would garden, knit, and even jump rope.
She is survived by all her children, Shahin, Satoudeh, Saideh, Soudabeh, Saeed, and Siamak, eight grandchildren, Shahrooz, Shadi, Roxane, Maryam, Melissa, Soheil, Lena, and Sacha, and four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Maxwell, Darius, and Ronja. Her husband, Moosa, preceeds her in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to any charity that studies or assists with dementia or Alzheimer's.
