Richard Ellis Davis (Rick) age 75, passed peacefully in his home on July 15, 2023 after a 15 year battle with cancer.
Preceded in death by parents Harold and Mildred Davis and brother Montie Davis. He is survived by children Tyler Davis and Lauren Estey, grandchildren Hayden Latson and Seren Estey; sister Karen Shannon (Bill) and sister-in-law Janice Davis Gray along with three nieces and two nephews.
Rick was an accomplished artist specializing in oil paintings of portrait and landscape scenes. He taught art privately and at Cheekwood. He was the selected artist for the 1998 Iroquois Steeplechase. Rick worked in advertisement and designed jewelry at Broadmax in his early years. In later years, he worked in sales and design at Sprintz Furniture. He designed numerous homes for construction over his lifetime beginning at the age of 16. His final works of art are displayed at Bennett Galleries in Nashville, Tennessee and a donated painting graces the wall of Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center Motor lobby.
Rick’s family expresses gratitude to his Alive Hospice care team, (Samantha, Sheila, and Audrey). We also recognize two special friends (Russell Buchi and Dianne Guy Howard) for their relentless hours of caregiving to Rick.
A memorial gathering will be held at the pavilion of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 2pm until 5pm.
