Richard Lawrence Hippel

Richard Lawrence Hippel, age 76, was born on July 21, 1947. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Richard was devoted husband, father, and “Opa”, a veteran of the United States Air Force,  loyal friend, and child of God. His best moments were spent with family and friends, singing, talking about cars, rock ‘n’ roll, and his hometown of Memphis, TN, and being silly with his two granddaughters.  He enjoyed history, especially military history, birdwatching, and sports, as a spectator, a coach, and a mentor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard H. Hippel and Melba F. Hippel. He is survived by his wife, Teresa G. Hippel, his sons Kurt (Rachel) Hippel and Drew (Joanna) Hippel, granddaughters, Amory and Tess Hippel, sister Kathy (Ed) Caldwell, as well as numerous family, friends, and loved ones.

Richard will be interred at the Middle Tennessee State Military Cemetery on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 10:00am.

A memorial visitation at Bellevue Baptist Church (7400 US-70S, Nashville, TN 37221) will also be on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm with a memorial service beginning at 1:00pm.
