Rita Dale Richardson
Heaven gained a true jewel with the passing of Rita Dale Richardson on October 26, 2020. Born the tenth of eleven children on November 1, 1952, in Ashland City, Tennessee. Rita happily resided with her loving family in both Cheatham and Davidson Counties. She lived the last twenty-five years of her life as a group home resident in Springfield, Tennessee. At "305" Rita was blessed with excellent care and memorable experiences as well as close friendships with both residents and staff. They were her second family, and we are forever grateful for them.
Rita was in every way a "Special" person. Her smile was heart-warming and her mannerisms endearing. Rita spoke often and lovingly of her parents and served as our family historian, recounting lived events in remarkable detail. She enjoyed attending Madison Free Will Baptist Church where her dad was pastor. Rita had a beautiful singing voice - count yourself blessed if you once heard her inspiring rendition of "Amazing Grace". Rita loved family gatherings and extended visits during the summer and on holidays. One of her great pleasures in life was holding babies. Infant nieces and nephews did not want for attention when Aunt Rita was around.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Louise Richardson, and siblings Jean Baird, Harold Wiseman, Helen Stokes, Shirley Branson, Carolyn Watson, and Johnny Morton. Rita is survived by sisters Betty McCool, Brenda Whitaker (Jim), Mary Pitts (Ed), and Kay Smith. Many loving nieces and nephews also treasure her memory.
Visitation will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home at noon on Friday, October 30, to be followed at 1:00 by a graveside service, Brother Dan Dozier officiation.
May we all be inspired by the simple and pure life that Rita lived. She will be sadly missed.
