RIGGS, Rita L.-age 86 passed away June 24, 2012. "Extraordinary" is a good word to describe Rita Louise Riggs. Born the "baby" of the family to Frank and Alda Bable on December 26, 1925, Rita was soon found to take everything ordinary and make it special with class. With the love and care of her family, her home and gardens, pets, her education and thought, her health, art, music, and more, she showed us all, "'It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!'" Always in jeans and a plain "T" around the home with special rings, earrings, and Sketcher shoes, when she dressed up, one felt the unmistakable presence of beauty and class, though she would never say that about herself. In fact, she may never have acknowledged how much she accomplished with her example of doing 100% and then some. To the adage that "no one is perfect," Rita would be one of the first to agree; but, her life reflected an extraordinary love and care for everything she touched. Her special passion and classy style for going that extra step set her apart. She will be sorely missed by all who love her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and sons, Roger and Jay Tod Riggs. She is survived by her daughter, Chris Mark Parisi; grandsons, Jonathan M. Smith and Peter D. Michelle Smith; sister, Jeannie Rallings; nieces, Marg Shell, Jayne Fauss, Jill Connor; Jan and Leslie Rallings, and great niece Yvette Lawson; nephews Tony Rallings, Eric Shell, Dale and Jason Leisure. A time of remembrance will be held on Saturday from 2:30p.m.-3:30p.m. at the Hendersonville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nashville Humane Society 213 Oceola Avenue, Nash. Tn, 37109, www.nashvillehumane.org.
