Robert Wayne Fortner (Bob), 78 of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on May 23, 2017 peacefully in his sleep after a battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Ann, his sister Pam Fortner, his three sons Jeff (Sandra), Jason (Tami) and Joel; and his grandchildren Evan and Erin.
Bob was born in Nashville on July 27, 1938. He graduated from Hume Fogg High School. He served in the Army Reserve for 6 years. He was employed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) for 34 years, working in Fingerprinting, Polygraphs, Narcotics, Homicide, as a Special Agent and at one point served as Assistant Director. After his retirement from the TBI in 1994, he worked as a court officer at Nashville's Federal Court house for 7 years.
Visitation and the funeral service will be at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens, 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00PM Thursday, May 25th and 2:00 until 3:00PM Friday. The Funeral will follow at 3:00PM Friday. Reverend Mike Shelton, of Bellevue Baptist Church will be officiating.
