Robert "Bobby" Eugene Galya departed this world on December 11, 2018. Bobby was born on September 28, 1952 in White Plains, New York. He was raised in Brewster, New York, where in Catholic school he gave a group of nuns a test of their faith. He graduated high school in 1970, and promptly volunteered for the armed services to fight in the Vietnam War. He was not allowed to enlist due to a medical condition. He was an American patriot throughout his life and a strong supporter of his country and military. He attended Boces Vocational School in upstate New York and obtained a degree as an automotive technician. Bobby learned machine work making small parts for various manufacturing industries working with his father in New York City. He moved to Dickson, Tennessee in 1977 and co-founded Tennessee Attachment Company from where he retired in 2017.
Bobby was a man of many interests. He enjoyed fast cars, antique cars, classic rock music, woodworking, trains, collecting coins and good conversation. At one point he built a G-Scale train track and village in the backyard that was enjoyed by all. He had a unique personality and perspective on people, politics and life. Bobby had keen intelligence and was a great listener, traits for which he was loved. His laugh was infectious and easy. Bobby had a faith in God that was envied for its simplicity. He was one of the most generous and authentic people one could ever hope to meet. Bobby and his wife, Ann enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and their many pets. God richly blessed their marriage; especially during the time they shared in their ten-year battle with cancer. He lived a life of quiet strength, was kind and had a gentle spirit. He lived and loved well.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jessie Galya, his daughter, Terri Baker and his lifelong friend, Patrick Martin. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Galya of Dickson, Tennessee; his daughter Katherine McKenzie (Eric) of Savannah, Georgia, and son Bobby Freeman (Maria) of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Galya of Miami, Florida; brother Tom Galya (Shirley R.) of Dickson, Tennessee, and sister Jane Amoroso (Mark) of Dickson, Tennessee. He leaves ten grandchildren, Lane, Rilee, Ethan, Willow, Josiah and Kasidi Baker; Aidan and Graeme McKenzie, and Brett and Emily Freeman; aunts, uncles and many cousins; nieces and nephews, friends, and Patrick and John Martin Families.
