Robert H. Holt, affectionately known as "The Chief," peacefully departed this life on March 30, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on November 7, 1927, in Florence, Alabama, Robert was a beloved son of Ethel Spain Holt and Robert Hightower Holt. He grew up in Collinwood, Tennessee, surrounded by a large family, one of eight children.

A man of remarkable talent and dedication, Robert enjoyed a distinguished career first at Ralston Purina and later at Ford Motor Company, where he served as a superintendent engineer focusing on security, maintenance, and labor relations. His contributions to the field were profound and lasting.

Robert attended Auburn University on the GI Bill, where he earned a degree in agricultural engineering. He later pursued a law degree from the University of Louisville, showcasing his commitment to lifelong learning. His educational journey paralleled his service to the nation; he enlisted in the Navy in 1945 during World War II, serving in the Pacific. Discharged honorably in 1947 as a Seaman First Class, Robert proudly received the WWII Victory Medal, a testament to his valor and commitment.

In life, Robert was known for his engaging personality. He had a passion for bridge and do-it-yourself projects, and he was an avid fan of football and basketball, particularly supporting Auburn and the University of Louisville. Robert resided in Louisville, Kentucky, for 40 years with his late wife, Marian Okerlene Prentice Holt, where they actively contributed to the community through their church, Westport Road Church of Christ. In 2000, they moved to Franklin, Tennessee, to be closer to family, subsequently becoming members of Southern Hills Church of Christ.

In 2018, Robert and Okerlene transitioned to Somerby of Franklin, where they enjoyed vibrant activities with their fellow residents. Robert’s favorite pastimes included watching Fox News, playing games on his iPad, and sharing meals with friends. A highlight of his later years was receiving a quilt with American colors from The Quilts of Valor Foundation on February 17, 2025, symbolizing the appreciation of his service during WWII.

Robert is survived by his sister, Nell Anderson; daughters, Janet Holt Dean (Barry) and Jennifer Holt Agee (Mike); grandchildren, Kristy Dean Crawford (Patrick), Lindsay Dean Meek (Daniel), Trina Agee Cornell (Bob), Loren Agee, and Erinne Agee Holland (Jim); as well as great-grandchildren, Savannah Meek, Sawyer Meek, Addison Crawford, Ansley Crawford, Jase Holland, Connor Cornell, Olivia Holland, Keagan Agee, Logan Agee, and Nathan Cornell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Okerlene Prentice Holt, and his one brother and five sisters.
