Robert "Bob" L. Rice, aged 75, died peacefully on December 7, 2016 in Nashville, TN. He was born on October 19, 1941 in Marion, OH to Robert G Rice and Violet P. Rice. He attended Hillsboro High School and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1963 and married his sweetheart Jeannie in the same year. He served in the US Army Reserve during the Vietnam era. Later he worked as an auditor for the Commerce Union Bank and then the State of Tennessee Comptrollers Office for over 22 years and retired in 2006. His loves were playing guitar, studying astronomy, spending time with his family, and anything on the History Channel.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Clara Jean "Jeannie" Matlock Rice, his son Robert Gordon Rice (and his wife Ayumi) of San Jose, CA, his daughter Andrea Rice Knight of Nashville, TN, his grandsons Spenser and Collier Knight of Nashville, TN, and several aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert G Rice, his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Dyer Matlock, and his son-in-law Dusty Knight.

A visitation will be held at Belmont United Methodist Church in Nashville, TN on Saturday December 10, 2016 at 1pm with the memorial service at 2pm and the burial immediately following at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

Arrangements are provided by Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please donate to the St. Thomas Health Foundation Heart Institute VAD Center who gave Bob the gift of an additional three years with his family.
